We understand your desire to slow down or even halt the skin aging process. Everyone wants to look younger and more attractive. That is why we offer the safest, most effective skin treatments available. One of our more well-known skin rejuvenating procedures involves laser technology. A specialized laser instrument is used to reduce the signs of aging through the removal of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and blemishes.
How Laser Procedures Affect the Skin
As we age, the skin becomes less elastic. Collagen production decreases, the result being saggy skin. Wrinkles begin to appear where firm tissue beneath the skin begins to loosen. Fine lines around the eyelids and lips begin to form because the skin is very thin in these areas.
Fortunately, laser skin rejuvenation can reduce or even eliminate these signs of aging skin. Unlike topical creams and moisturizers, laser rejuvenation technology is more permanent because it encourages the growth of healthy skin. Patients who experience our laser skin rejuvenation treatment are rewarded with tighter, firmer skin. Best of all, problem areas like acne scars and blemishes become far less noticeable because the skin itself is more youthful and supple.
Laser Skin Rejuvenation Techniques
A laser treatment involves the application of pulsating coherent-wave light beams on the affected area. The beam penetrates down through the layers of the dermis. The layers heat up just a bit, and this encourages the production of collagen. At the same time, damaged skin cells are removed.
When skin cells are vaporized or burned away, a healing process begins immediately. This is no different than when a cut or scrape begins to heal over. The laser treatment used to rejuvenate skin encourages new skin growth that is healthier than before due to the absence of any damaged skin cells that might otherwise reproduce themselves.
Laser skin resurfacing is usually performed by treating one layer of the skin at a time. The epidermis is treated first; then the lower dermal layers are subjected to the laser beam afterward.
Recovery Time for the Patient
In most cases, the procedure we perform is a one-time service. Because the skin has been slightly burned, we usually recommend the patient wear bandages for a short period. We may also recommend a specific salve or ointment to help soothe the affected areas. Sometimes we even apply a cool down cloth at the end of the treatment session.
For the most part, individuals who complete a laser resurfacing treatment session can resume their normal activities almost immediately. The treatment itself is repeatable, but most individuals need not complete another session for at least one year.
Candidates for Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Anyone who suffers from the appearance of crow’s feet, eyelid or lip area wrinkles, or sagging skin on the central or lower neck is a candidate for this procedure. Facial blemishes and acne scars are caused by damaged skin cells that nonetheless divide and reproduce, and our treatment procedure can significantly diminish the appearance of these problem areas.
