Over the years, the chief beneficiaries of cosmetic surgery procedures have almost always been women, but that trend seems to be changing.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that men made up about 10% of all the cosmetic procedures performed last year with the most popular cosmetic treatments being nonsurgical. This number is up from 8% just a few years ago and represents a 121% increase over the last 15 years.
With nonsurgical cosmetic procedures becoming more commonplace and many treatments requiring little or no downtime, men are more willing to try popular procedures such as CoolSculpting to improve their appearance and boost their confidence.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of men undergoing nonsurgical cosmetic procedures such as Botox, laser skin treatments and facial fillers has risen almost 50% from a decade ago. Cosmetic surgeons report that the number of male patients they currently treat has doubled within the last five years.
The increased popularity of cosmetic procedures among men in recent years is likely due to greater media exposure and reports of male celebrities having procedures done. This trend is likely to continue as men take a more proactive role in their appearance.
Doctors have found that what motivates a man to seek cosmetic procedures usually differs significantly from what motivates a woman. Most men tend to feel that improving their looks will enable them to achieve and sustain a competitive advantage. Growing numbers of male patients are actively seeking the following nonsurgical alternatives because they want to obtain a more well-defined, youthful looking appearance without surgery, scar tissue or having to take time off work.
Recent studies have shown that over 40% of men seek some type of body contouring to improve their appearance. Body contouring is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure is designed to target pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting has attracted more male patients because this treatment can help them eliminate unwanted fat around the pectoral muscles and along the waistline and back – areas that typically gain a few inches as men get older.
CoolSculpting literally freezes unwanted fat using a non-invasive applicator to gently cool and freeze the targeted fat cells, leaving the surrounding skin tissue unaffected. Once they become frozen, the crystallized fat cells die and the body naturally eliminates them. A reduction in the layer of fat will be noticeable within 3-4 weeks, with optimum results usually taking 2-4 months.
CoolSculpting is considered the most comfortable method of freezing and permanently destroying fat cells on the planet and is the most popular nonsurgical fat removal treatment available.
Because Botox produces noticeable results fast without the need for surgery, anesthesia or recovery time, it has become one of the most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedures that doctors perform every year. A very fine needle is used to eliminate or soften facial lines and the injections only take a few minutes. Botox is meant to give you a more relaxed, rested and happy look.
Laser Skin Treatments
Laser skin resurfacing enhances the look of your skin using a pulsating beam of intense laser light to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and scarring. Damaged layers of skin are carefully removed to help blend pigment and smooth the skin’s surface. Your body then generates collagen as it heals, giving your skin a younger and healthier appearance.
Fillers from Hyaluronic gels (water based) and Radiesse (like a liquid precursor of bone) can enhance jaw lines, re-inflate cheeks and chins, lift brows and frame eyes without surgery for months at a time. The 5 year data, soon to be released on Artefill®, shows that it is probably the safest, most researched, long lasting filler (over a year) on the market today….. call for your complimentary consultation 702-360-6686, today!!
